• Question: How are some people born taller, fatter, smaller, skinnier, longer hair, speckier than others?

      It all starts with your genes! Your parents contribute to how you will look with their DNA, but after you are born you start to shape the way you look. Freckles, extra fat, longer hair… those all come from the interaction between you and your environment. For instance freckles appear on fair skinned people when they are in the sun a lot, and longer hair is simply a result of someone not cutting their hair very often.

      All to do with the genes as Kathryn said, depends what you inherit from your parents and the interactions you have with your environment. Not just parents though, as genes from generations further back also play a part!
