We have found around 7.77 million animal species- and most of these are insects! If we add plants 8.7 million species! If we add bacteria and virus species….

What is crazy is we probably have not found them all and because we are building and farming so much of earths land, we will destroy and drive species to extinction without ever knowing they existed.

As Kathryn said, we have discovered around 7.77 million animal species, but of course not all have been discovered yet and also plenty have become extinct before we’ve even discovered them! So there could well be hundreds of thousands of species waiting to be discovered. A large portion of these undiscovered ones too would also be insects!
