• Question: what dose cancer do to the body ?

      So cancer happens when a cell is not able to regulate how it reproduces. A cell can make copies of itself, but if it loses control, it just keeps making copies and copies and copies, because its DNA is damaged, and that’s what leads to cancer. Cancer is different depending on where in the body it happens, and you can also have tumors that are not cancerous (I have one of those!). If the cancer is in your white blood cellls, it can stop your immune system from working. If it’s in your brain, it could affect your memory, or your speech. If its in your kidneys, it can affect how you’re able to deal with waste in your body. So it all depends on where the cancer is.

      As Joanne was saying, cancer is a cell in the body that loses control and goes nuts! A bit like dominos falling, it just spreads out of control. The thing is its not always the cancer cells that does the damage, its the fact that it just stops the body from doing what it should be doing and that’s what really does the damage.
