Everyone can be a scientist, doesn’t matter if you are a boy or a girl. People are still used to scientists being men from one hundred years ago, but now women can be whatever they want, including an amazing scientist. Ireland is excellent for encouraging women to get involved in science. Read about Kathleen Lonsdale, Marie Curie, Jocelyn Bell Burnell and loads of other women who succeeded in science even when women were treated badly by society, or watch the movie Hidden Figures. If you know anyone who doesn’t think girls can be scientists, you send them to me and I’ll set them straight! đŸ™‚

Nonsense, they’re talking rubbish. Look at this event as a start, great female scientists here! They may say that all male scientists in the past and it should stay that way, that’s because most huge scientific discoveries were made many years ago before women got a say in things! Most of the smartest people in my degree were all women, and I’d be asking them for help all the time. Gender shouldn’t have a say in whether women should do science or not, science needs diversity and new ideas. There is nothing stopping women from doing that and more women should do science in the future. I’m sure my fellow scientists would agree.
